The prize commemorates the first President of the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), Sir Robert Matthew and recognises innovative contributions to the development of architecture, in the Commonwealth context.

The award was presented to Mr England in absentia during a ceremony held in Mombasa, Kenya, on 14 August, as part of the CAA’s General Assembly.
Over the last half-century, Mr England’s work attracted the attention of the international architectural world, the Kamra tal-Periti says in its press statement. In the early eighties, he was commissioned by Iraqi architect Rifat Chadirji to work together with other world-renowned architects.

BNF Bank received an award entitled “Best Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) Partner Bank Malta 2019” by the London-based business publication The European, according to a BNF Bank press release.

The European’s annual awards acknowledge the achievement, innovation and excellence of those corporate organisations who demonstrate the business decision making, good governance and expertise that enable them to reach these goals.

“We do not have a bias towards larger and more dominant firms. We recognise smaller participants, growth companies, and niche startups, and we asses companies purely on what sets them apart from the rest, regardless of the size of their practice,” said a representative of The European.

Targeting decision makers around the world, the publication says it covers a “broad spectrum” of global business affairs. The publication also gathers its news and opinion pieces from “leading sources” and seeks contributing authors to share their experience in providing cutting-edge thought leadership and commentary at the most senior level, according to the press release, the press statement says.

“We are elated to receive this award because it is a clear acknowledgement of BNF’s strategic and operational direction that has reaped great results in business consolidation,” said Michael Collis, Chief Executive Officer of BNF Bank. “Over the past year, we have worked to strengthen even further our relationships with personal customers and business clients, to deliver products that are focused and relevant as well as streamlined services that are superior. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank the BNF team, without whose motivation, dedication and on-the-job expertise, we would not have been able to register such success,” he added.

“Our BNF Business Accelerate, which we manage with the collaboration of the European Investment Fund, has attracted many takers, proving popular among SMEs in different stages of their business cycle, from startups to those in a phase of growth and expansion, and onto more established and mature SMEs,” said Melvin Pellicano, BNF’s Head of Business Development. “The product facilitates access to finance to Maltese SMEs at lower interest rates and reduced guarantee and collateral requirements,” said Melvin Pellicano, BNF’s Head of Business Development.

The post BNF Bank gets ‘Best SME Partner Bank Malta 2019’ award first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Maltese telco Melita won a Best Buy Award related to offering the best value for internet broadband services, according to a press release sent to Business Malta.

The award was based on an independent survey on a representative sample of the Maltese population carried out by the Swiss organisation International Certification Association (ICERTIAS).

ICERTIAS measures the experience and satisfaction of consumers regarding the price-quality ratio of marketed products and services. The questions in the Best Buy Award research were open-ended. Therefore, the results represent the personal experience and perception of the consumers, as the press release says.

“Melita has consistently led the way in delivering quality internet services in Malta, recently becoming the first and only operator to offer 1,000 Mbps speeds nationwide. Our commitment to delivering the best quality broadband internet service is also matched by our commitment to offering great value to customers, something which this Best Buy award clearly recognises,” said Mireille Muscat, Head of Marketing at Melita. “I’d like to pass my thanks to all our customers who took the time to give feedback on our internet service, leading to Melita receiving this award.”

The post Melita wins Best Buy Award for internet broadband services first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Malta International Airport (MIA) was named among the winners of Airport Council International’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards by receiving the title “Best Airport in Europe” in its size category in 2018, according to a press statement by MIA.

The Malta airport was named the third and second best airport in its category in 2016 and 2017, respectively. In 2018, however, high satisfaction scores by passengers of the airport put MIA to the top, coming first before its 35 peers in the category hosting five to 15 million passengers annually.

“At a time when the customer experience is becoming an increasingly important aspect of what a business has to offer, it is extremely rewarding to see that our passengers have once again expressed their satisfaction with the service delivered as they travelled through our airport, leading us to win the coveted Best Airport in Europe award,” says Alan Borg, CEO of MIA.

Airports Council International announced the winners following the rating of 346 airports worldwide by more than 650,000 departing passengers throughout 2018.

Being graded at 4.37 points, Malta International Airport’s overall passenger satisfaction score during peak season, stretching from July until September 2018, was significantly higher than the European average of 3.98, the press statement says.

Malta International Airport is sharing the Best Airport in Europe award with seven airports, considered to have delivered a top-notch service in 2018, in the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Russia, and Iceland.

ASQ’s worldwide programme surveys passengers at the airport on the day of their travels. The programme measures passengers’ views of 34 performance indicators including airport access, check-in, security screening, stores, and restaurants. The ASQ programme also enables the sharing of best practices among airport operators.

The post Malta airport bags ‘Best Airport in Europe’ award by ASQ first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

AX The Victoria was recognised as Malta’s Top 10 Hotels by TripAdvisor, according to a press statement published by AX Hotels. The accolade comes a week after an award from booking.com recognised AX The Saint John.

Based on reviews and opinions from millions of travellers, AX The Victoria was given the Travellers’ Choice awards by TripAdvisor, ranking the hotel in the top 1% of all hotels, the press statement says.

“Last year AX The Victoria has gone through a total refurbishment, and I am thrilled that people are responding to it so positively. Our hotel is all about treating our guests like royalty in a classic Victorian style. As I like to say 5-star service in 4-star accommodation,” says Kevin Callus, AX Hotels Sliema Manager commented about the award.

“I was very pleased to learn about the awards that our chain AX Hotels is receiving. Our mission with each of our properties is to offer outstanding service within unique and distinctive surroundings,” says Claire Zammit Xuereb, AX Hospitality Director. “So each of our properties has the edge over each other as well as our competition. AX The Saint John is designed with an Industrial concept in mind while still blending in the Baroque aspect of the building, thereby creating a unique experience – it’s ideal for tech-savvy, independent travellers. While AX The Victoria honours the Victorian style and offers comfort that couples or families would seek in a city hotel. A hotel with a special charm driven by its people. I am glad that our vision translates into guests’ positive experiences. Well done to AX Hotels’ teams,” the director adds

AX Hotels is one of the largest hotel chains on the island and is a member of AX Group. This hotel chain consists of six hotels and will open doors of its 7th property mid-2019, the company says.

The post Two AX Hotels receive accolades in one week first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Mr Green Ltd, the iGaming site of group MRG, was announced as the winner of three categories at the EGR Nordics Awards 2019; Socially Responsible Operator of the Year, Mobile Operator of the Year and Affiliate Program of the Year, according to a press release issued in late-January.

“We have met a fantastic response from our customers,” says Jesper Kärrbrink, CEO of Mr Green Ltd. “We have seen record-high growth in the number of new customers as well as returning customers. It proves that our customers like what we do. This year, we will continue to deliver on our strategy, focusing on increased automation based on our customers’ individual preferences and risk behaviours,” he adds.

Mr Green launched Green Gaming to promote responsible gaming and help the company’s customers keep their gambling under control. The firms’ Green Gaming Policy allows customers to set up personal deposit, loss and wagering limits over a given period, which the company hopes can help gamblers control and moderate their spendings, wagers and losses. Therefore, the award of “Socially Responsible Operator of the Year” is considered by the company as an accolade for their efforts.

“Responsible gaming has been a key part of our business strategy since the foundation of our company, and we are continuously investing in Green Gaming,” says Mr Kärrbrink. “By the use of gaming data, we increase our understanding of our customers, and at the same time, we gain better insights about their individual needs. In this way, we can secure that every customer is offered relevant entertainment in a safe environment. This is a prerequisite for a sustainable business,” he concludes.

The post Mr Green bags three prizes at EGR Nordics Awards 2019 first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.
