LifeCycle Malta Foundation will hold its “Sufferfest” fitness challenge on 31 August and 7 September, to show outsiders the difficulties cyclists of the LifeCycle Challenge go through during their tour into Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia on 12-21 September, according to a press release sent to Business Malta.

“We are inviting individuals as well as groups of friends or employees to take part in our studio. Participants will attempt three cycling challenges, each challenge taking some 45-55 minutes with a 15-20 minute refreshment break in between, where healthy food snacks and Nescafé 3in1 coffee will be available. All funds will go towards our cause,” said Alan Curry, Founder of LifeCycle Challenge.

In order to raise money for the cause LifeCycle stands for, the event sports a €50 entrance fee covering the cost of a t-shirt, an official certificate and entry into a lottery with prizes.

LifeCycle is a non-profit organization (NGO) that raises money in order to support patients suffering from kidney failure covering awareness, treatment and research. The foundation works also hand in hand with the medical staff at the Renal Unit of Mater Dei Hospital and the University of Malta Research Trust (RIDT).

The charity event will utilise video workouts and indoor bikes at ChicPhysique Fitness Studio, based at Hilltop Gardens in Naxxar.

Nestlé Malta’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager Alfred J. Borg presented a new cycling kit to a group of cyclists and back-up team members from LifeCycle Challenge on 2 June at the Nestlé Consumer Centre in Lija, according to a press statement sent to Business Malta.

“The generous support by Nescafé 3in1 is not only in financial terms but also in the encouragement to further pursue our good cause. Thirty cyclists and five back-up team members have joined this year’s edition. We are all geared up for the four months of tough training ahead to prepare us for the Challenge,” said Alan Curry the founder of LifeCycle Malta Foundation.

“As the main sponsor of LifeCycle Challenge, we admire the strong positive attitude of the team behind LifeCycle Challenge. Their endeavours, efforts and commitment to raising money to be able to further improve the care of kidney failure patients and their relatives is simply commendable,” Mr Borg said about the sponsorship.

The charity events this year were organised in May at two places in Malta: at the University of Malta Msida Campus and at the city gate in Valletta opposite the Maltese parliament building, where €1,142 was collected for patients suffering from end-stage renal disease. Participants rode stationary bikes, turning every five minutes of cycling into a €2 donation each.

LifeCycle has organised bike challenges for more than two decades by now in different countries to generate funding for the needs and care of kidney disease patients and their families. The foundation’s work focuses on three major areas; raising awareness, supporting treatment and research, and working hand in hand with the medical staff of Mater Dei Hospital’s Renal Unit.

The post LifeCycle Challenge 2019 members receive new kit first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.
