The press statement adds that today LeoVegas has over 400 employees at the Malta office, sporting a truly diverse workforce — be it race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, ability, or sexual orientation —, which contributes to the overall success of the company.

“Their strong commitment towards welcoming diversity in the workplace is a message that needs to be spread far and wide. In our work with the community, we have seen employers who were not as affirming and accepting, which led to employees’ wellbeing suffer and their motivation taking a dip as a result,” Mr Mercieca said. “Being simply tolerant is not enough,” he underscored.

Malta Pride is a week-long celebration with different activities, with the main parade and open-air free concert. This year’s theme will be “From Riots to Rainbows – 50 years since Stonewall”.

Under the recently signed partnership, iGaming watchdog MGA will pay particular attention to the challenges of the labour force in the archipelago’s fast-developing online gaming market.

Malta was an early-boomer in regulating the online gambling market in 2004 and has been progressive about related improvement ever since. For today, Malta has become a significant player not only in the region but globally, hence having earned the “iGaming hub” tag, being used by many.

The MGA says although Malta does have probably one of the most diverse labour force in the industry, the current stance has been more by accident than design. Due to the recent alliance, the authority expects greater exposure for the issues surrounding diversity in the betting and gambling sector in Malta and will help address issues like the skills gap, recruitment and retention of talent from the local talent pools and globally, the MGA press statement underlines.

“The Malta Gaming Authority is delighted to be supporting this project; as diversity, equality and inclusion are all on top of the MGA’s agenda,” Heathcliff Farrugia, the Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Gaming Authority, is cited in the statement.

“Having the MGA support the All-in Diversity Project is another leap forward for our industry,” adds Kelly Kehn, Co-Founder of the All-In Diversity Project, according to the statement. “Working in collaboration with leading regulatory organisations such as the Malta Gaming Authority means we can accelerate progress, share more information and offer better tools to the businesses located there. We are thrilled to have them as a partner,” Ms Kehn says.

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is considered as a flagship authority within the iGaming industry and has been making efforts in regulating one of Malta’s major economic contributors. The MGA governs all types of gaming and gambling activities including national lotteries, bingo halls, casinos, gaming parlours and remote gaming, the press statement notes.

The All-in Diversity Project is the industry’s global resource for data pertaining to diversity and inclusion. “Our vision is to shift the paradigm for inclusion through transparency, measurability and actionable tactics,” the press statement says.
