Malta will open a realistic miniature town where children can learn through playing and exploring life in the world around them, according to a press release sent to Business Malta. The venue entitled Little Peeps Pop Up Town will be open from 22 October to 3 November in the Parish Hall at Kristu Rxoxt Church in Pembroke.

The mini-town will offer play booths resembling facilities used by adults every day, such as a supermarket, a medical centre, a police station, a café and diner, a picnic area and others. In addition, the venue will include a room for little learners, where children can express their imagination supported by educational and multi-sensorial toys.

“The concept of mini-towns for children’s play is hugely popular abroad but has never been done before in Malta. For 12 days only, children in Malta will soon be able to experience the fun, adventure and excitement of make-believe in this colourful town that is all theirs to safely explore and enjoy,” said Chiara George, creator of Little Peeps Pop Up Town.

The recommended age is from 18 months to seven years but the project also includes a small soft play area for younger children. Each child must attend with an adult, who will be able to join the café next to the town while the kids play.

Tickets are available for online purchase prior to the event.

The post Malta to host mini-town for children first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

HSBC Malta partnered up with UNESCO Maltese National Commission on publishing a booklet entitled Mixja F’Wied Il-Għasel (A walk in the Valley of Honey) to highlight the important role of the flora and fauna in the valley in Mosta, according to a press statement sent to Business Malta. The publication was announced today in Mosta on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

“It is hoped that these publications encourage teachers to engage their students in more outdoor activities which will help them to appreciate our national heritage and all forms of wildlife” said Andrew Beane, the CEO of HSBC Malta.

“Spending time in nature is invaluable for our health and wellbeing and for encouraging us to be more environmentally friendly. This publication provides the opportunity to learn about the amazing wildlife we have living on our doorstep and to inspire teachers and children to enjoy being outdoors and learning with a different perspective. We would like to thank Mr Jason Aloisio and HSBC for their work in making this happen,” said Sarah Brady, the Education Manager at BirdLife Malta.

The booklet, which is the second publication in the collaboration between HSBC Malta and the UNESCO Maltese National Commission, was funded through the HSBC Water Programme-Catch the Drop campaign. The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “Air Pollution” under which HSBC is encouraging its supporters to recycle waste into energy.

The post HSBC Malta and UNESCO publish educational booklet first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

St Monica’s School of Birkirkara’s 140 students attended an hour-long educational Air Malta flight at an altitude of 16,000 feet to Sicily and back with a flyby of Mount Etna, according to a press statement by the national carrier.

Before the flight, students received brief talks on the formalities of the airport by both Air Malta and Malta International Airport personnel. After this, students visited the airline’s engineering hangar to see Air Malta’s latest Airbus A320neo aircraft sporting Nickelodeon livery. One of the airline’s engineers explained some technical features of the aircraft during the visit.

The school organised the event together with Air Malta’s Captain Mark Micallef and the airline’s charter flights section. “It was made possible with the assistance given by the teachers and guardians of St Monica School who also accompanied the children, Malta International Airport including its Fire and Rescue Section and the Malta Air Traffic Services Ltd,” Air Malta says.

Every year many local schools take the opportunity to organise similar educational flights on Air Malta for their students, the press statement adds.

The post Air Malta takes Birkirkara students on educational flight first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.
