The Malta Hospice Movement has received a €115,000 donation from Farsons Foundation, Farrugia Investments and Multigas Limited for the establishment of the St Michael Hospice complex, according to a press release sent to Business Malta. The funding is available for a three-year period.

The latest donation by Farsons includes the building and furnishing of the in-patient kitchen and dining facilities for the patients and their families. The hospice offers free service to patients in Malta and Gozo and it has been doing a lot for suffering families, according to the press release.

Hospice Malta believes that the funding will help enhance community services. The St Michael complex will also represent an in-patient care unit with a more holistic approach offering more therapy services and out-patient clinics. Furthermore, the hospice will strengthen its educational centre, allowing relations with hospices across Europe and beyond, as the press release says.

“St Michael Hospice project has the potential to make an immense difference in the community. Many Maltese have family members who have relied on the specialist care offered by Hospice Malta. Through this donation, we can support Hospice Malta to broaden its remarkable work for the benefit of the Maltese society,” said Louis A. Farrugia, Chairman on behalf of Farsons and its affiliates.

“We have embarked on a journey to fund this project that will see Malta’s first hospice complex become a reality and I would like to thank Farsons and its affiliates for their support. Being an NGO, and with all our services offered free of charge, we critically rely on voluntary donations to continue with our care,“ said Maria Gatt, Chairperson of Hospice Malta.

“This is possible thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses to enable our operations to continue serving those who need them most. Through this donation towards St Michael Hospice, Farsons and its affiliates responded in a tangible manner to help our future patients receive the best possible care,” Mrs Gatt added.

Hospice Malta provides and promotes palliative care to people suffering from cancer, motor-neuron disease, end-of-life cardiac, respiratory, renal and liver disease. St Michael is a hospice previously called Adelaide Cini Institute. It is located in Santa Venera and was founded in 1989, representing the first complex in Malta which provides comprehensive palliative care to patients.

The post Malta Hospice Movement receives €115,000 donation first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Qatar Airways has donated its “selfie bench” to Hospice Malta. The bench is now in the garden of the new 9,000 sqm residential palliative care facility, currently known as the Adelaide Cini Institute, according to a press statement sent to Business Malta. The facility is set to begin receiving patients by 2021.

The branded bench was used in Qatar Airways’ social media campaign supporting its recent launch of the Malta-Doha route in June.

“Qatar Airways fully understands and embraces the importance of supporting charities and their vital work in the local community,” said Mate Hoffmann, Qatar Airways Country Manager Italy and Malta. “We strongly believe in coming together to support Hospice Malta with such a worthy cause, and are thrilled that our famous ‘selfie’ bench will continue to bring comfort and cheer to the people of Malta in its new home,” the country manager added.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the donation which was dropped off last week,” said Kenneth Delia, Hospice Malta General Manager. The bench will offer our day therapy patients the opportunity for respite and comfort in our tranquil garden space. It is a fantastic initiative on the part of Qatar Airways and we could not be happier to be chosen as the airline’s charity of choice,” the general manager added.

Hospice Malta is a voluntary organisation that offers its services free of charge through a multidisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers, providing and promoting palliative care for those suffering from terminal conditions. The patient-centred palliative care offered targets the relief of pain and other physical symptoms, as well as emotional, psycho-social, and spiritual issues.

The post Qatar Airways donates ‘selfie’ bench to Hospice Malta first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Maltese non-profit organisation Hospice Malta appointed local marketing and PR agency The Concept Stadium for handling media and communications activities for the NGO that provides and promotes free palliative care for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses, according to a press release sent to Business Malta.

Along the years, Concept Stadium says it has assisted a number of organisations with their societal, environmental and marketing requirements in line with their service offering.

“One of the value-propositions since our foundation nine years ago has been to ensure we embark on a sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to reward the ecosystem in which we operate. We are proud to have assisted Hospice Malta with their nationwide campaign for Xarabank [local prime-time talk show], on a pro bono basis, to contribute to their future plans of setting up and running of a complex dedicated entirely to providing free comprehensive palliative care to their patients,” said Jonathan Dalli, Founder and CEO at Concept Stadium.

“From my end personally, and the rest of the team, it has been a great pleasure for us to work on this successful campaign, and we now look forward to embarking on a Public Perception Management Programme as the NGOs consultancy agency, in order to raise the profile of Hospice Malta and their sterling array of services via our marketing and PR capabilities,” he added.

“Informing the general public about the Hospice’s mission and services is crucial. The Concept Stadium will enable us to reach this goal. Their invaluable contribution will also help us to further raise much-needed funds to support an increasing number of families who are passing through very difficult times,“ said Maria Gatt, Hospice Malta Chairperson.

“We are working actively on the planning phase of a complex which will be Malta’s first facility that will significantly enhance the present palliative care services to patients in their own homes and communities as well as through Hospice in-patient services,” she added.
