Online gambling firm Aspire Global Plc has finalised the acquisition of B2B group and global game aggregator platform Pariplay for €13.1m in cash in line with the initial conditions announced on 28 June, according to a press statement sent to Business Malta. The transaction received the approval of the respective authorities

Through the acquisition Aspire Global expects to “control yet another crucial part” of the iGaming vertical, looking into creating synergies, broadening the game portfolio and providing a channel to distribute and sell propriety games outside Aspire Global’s partner network.

Pariplay has hundreds of proprietary game titles complemented by more than 2,000 games from leading third-party providers on its B2B platform. The game portfolio is certified for several regulated markets in Europe, including Denmark which will be launching shortly. Moreover, Pariplay has cleared an iGaming certification for New Jersey, which Aspire Global is expecting to leverage.

Aspire Global says the acquisition of Pariplay strengthens B2B-business through external game sales — accelerating growth, creating synergies and saving costs with an expected positive effect on overall EBITDA as of 2020. For 2019 however, the transaction is not expected to have any material effect on Aspire Global’s financial results.

“We are excited to welcome the Pariplay team to Aspire Global. The acquisition of Pariplay is in line with our M&A strategy focusing on B2B growth and external game sales,” says Tsachi Maimon, CEO at Aspire Global.

The integration of Pariplay grants us control of yet another crucial part of the iGaming value chain – cutting costs, broadening the game portfolio and providing a channel to sell and distribute propriety games outside Aspire Global network. Moreover, Pariplay holds an iGaming license for New Jersey, which could act as the spearhead of our future efforts to enter the US market,” Mr Maimon adds.

The post Aspire Global finalises Pariplay purchase first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

OKEx has launched a new platform entitled “Futures and Perpetual Swap Market Data” that offers trading data for customers, trying to help them understand the derivatives market, according to a press statement sent to Business Malta.

OKEx expects the new platform to allow users to access the real-time data of OKEx’s futures and perpetual swap markets of nine mainstream tokens including bitcoin (BTC), litecoin (LTC), ether price (ETH), ether classic (ETC), ripple (XRP), EOS, bitcoin cash (BCH), bitcoin SV (BSV) and tron (TRX), according to a press release sent to Business Malta.

Additionally, OKEx expects the new feature to help its customers to get a grasp of market trends, including long/short positions ratio, basis, open interest and trading volume, buy/sell taker volume, Top Trader Sentiment Index, and top trader average margin used.

The new data platform is also seen to provide additional insight that would help customers better identify market trends and develop their own trading strategies, the press statement says.

“Derivatives trading requires a steeper learning curve, as it involves the use of margin and leverage. Once we realized that there isn’t really much data available in the market to help users analyze market trends, we decided to build a tool that can benefit our users,” said Andy Cheung, Head of Operations of OKEx.

“That’s why we launched this big data platform, and we are proud to say that we are the first in the industry to provide this kind of data. As a leader, we are committed to bringing the best user experience and building a healthy trading environment for all,” Mr Cheung added.

HSBC Malta launched its enhanced personal internet banking service, through which platform HSBC expects to offer more security, fresher look and feel, and more simplified account management for its clients, according to a press statement sent to Business Malta. The upgrade happens in phases to help clients familiarise with the new functions.

The first launch of the enhanced features will consist of a new login process, which the bank says will be simpler, however, not at the cost of security. Customers will also access a simpler account selection, a redesigned menu for quick links and a slicker transaction history screen. For now, all other internet banking functions will remain as they are, and users link to the new features through the new quick links menu.

The bank says that customers will be contacted on an individual basis as soon as they have been migrated to the new platform. Nevertheless, HSBC Malta once again underscores that HSBC Malta will never ask for confidential information or confirmation of any security details, and links shared by the bank will only take users to information pages.

Once migrated, customers that are on the new platform will see a new login page which will only ask for their username. The bank says users will only need to follow the new log-in journey, promising that the new approach will not be more complex.

Customers will also be provided with a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to ensure that the transition simple. Furthermore, those customers who have been moved on to the enhanced service may contact the HSBC Malta Contact Centre or check the HSBC Malta Facebook page to obtain any required support or assistance as required.

The post HSBC Malta rolls out new internet banking platform in phases first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

First International Merchant Bank (FIMBank) supports FCIReverse, an automated platform that allows members to on-board buyers and suppliers in what they tag as a “transparent and seamless manner” globally, according to a FIMBank press statement.

FIMBank says it “owns a strong position” in contributing to the development of this platform.

The bank is, in fact, highly active in major export markets such as India, the Middle East and Egypt, where it can partner with FCI — the global representative body for factoring and financing of open account domestic and international trade receivables — members through the 3+ and 4 “corner model”, according to the press release.

The bank’s global presence and specialised teams allow it to effectively implement FCIReverse type facilities.

FIMBank’s presence in import markets will be a key business driver for other participants in the program, under revenue sharing agreements. FIMBank shares were listed in June 2001 in Malta for the first time.

The FIMBank Group has built an international factoring network — securing debt collection and improving cash flow. The Bank’s Mediterranean Factoring Department (MED) factors in Malta, offering a comprehensive range of factoring services.

The post FIMBank vows support for FCIReverse platform first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Malta-based YAO Network is launching an open blockchain infrastructure platform based on BaaS 3.0 (blockchain-as-a-service) design concept, hoping to provide an ecosystem for enterprises and developers to design, build, and deploy their own blockchain applications in a cloud environment, according to a press statement.

“Our goal is to build an open blockchain infrastructure platform from which tech communities and developers can better serve commercial applications,” says Walter Komarek, Co-founder of YAO Network. “The approach creates triple-win outcomes,” Mr Komarek adds.

As the company sees it, the demand from different blockchain players continues to grow, yet certain weaknesses pertaining to the performance of fundamental technology, commercial applications, and supporting infrastructure for communities still exist. YAO Network is convinced that current issues with performance, scalability, security, and privacy hinder the development of blockchain technology.

“The scarcity of development toolkits and learning platforms prevent wider and deeper penetration of the tech. Moreover, developers often lack knowledge of traditional industries. These create challenges in exporting a community’s technology and building a functional ecosystem,” the press statement says.

The BaaS technology enables clients to use cloud infrastructure to create, host, and utilise own blockchain solutions, as well as enables organisations to deploy supplier services to create and access decentralised applications (dApps).

YAO Network is based on the design concept of BaaS 3.0. Through a “blameless governance system” and “incentive mechanism”, the network aims to continuously nurture new blockchain projects, as well as, build a platform of multiple blockchain networks that integrate cloud and decentralised computing, according to the developers of the network.

“YAO Network is a next-generation public infrastructure platform. It works as an ecosystem entry, computation hub, and service market for blockchain communities,” says Mr Komarek. “YAO will connect enterprises, developers, communities, and industry upstream and downstream participants to provide a full range of blockchain services,” he adds.

YAO Network was founded in January 2019 by a team of developers and technologists. The Malta-based venture is led by Co-founder Walter Komarek, the CEO of Angel Investment, and former founder of Forbestelecom.

The firm’s institutional partners include Amazon Web Services, Ethereum, Huobi, George Mason University, and Columbia University, among others.

The post YAO Network to launch open blockchain infrastructure platform first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Malta-based digital asset exchange OKEx launched euro (EUR) and Russian ruble (RUB) markets on its customer-to-customer (C2C) fiat-to-token trading platform, according to a press statement by the company. Very recently, the platform announced the launch of Turkish lira and British pound and Thai baht.

Users of the platform can now place orders with self-selected exchange rates and payment methods to buy or sell virtual financial assets with fiat currencies. OKEx C2C trading service offers a decentralised platform for the buying and selling of bitcoin (BTC), tether (USDT), ether (ETH), and litecoin (LTC).

“We strive for building a robust crypto ecosystem, that’s why we will never stop expanding and pushing crypto adoption forward. We are so thrilled about the expansion as our C2C platform is fostering the buying and selling of digital assets across Europe with the newly supported currencies,” said Andy Cheung, Head of Operations of OKEx.

“This is a big step forward. Given the recent Bitcoin price rally, the whole crypto market is giving a strong signal. We have good faith in the growth and development of blockchain technology under this bullish trend,” he added.

OKEx listed the British pound (GBP) and the Thai baht (THB) as two new currencies for trade on its over-the-counter (OTC) platform in late-January. The company also expressed commitment to the UK market despite Brexit woes. Very recently, OKEX unveiled its initial exchange offering (IEO) platform, dubbed “OK Jumpstart”. The platform also recently announced the launch of Turkish lira.

The post OKEx introduces euro and ruble to its C2C platform first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.
