More than 40 artists have gathered their artworks in collective art exhibition “Pink” raising funds for breast cancer research, according to a press statement sent to Business Malta. The exhibition is open 19-31 October at Gallery 23, Idmejda Street, Balzan.

The exhibition emerged out of Michelle Gialanze’s idea who is also one of the participating artists. The initiative wishes to support breast cancer research through the University of Malta’s (UM) Research Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT), according to the press statement by the UM.

The paintings exhibited which all have a splash of pink are all works of renowned and aspiring artists and they range from landscapes to nudes. This exhibition offers a great opportunity for art aficionados to experience quality art while supporting breast cancer research.

Set up in 2011 as an autonomous support platform, the RIDT is striving to further the advancement of research, innovation and development in all areas of study, knowledge and activity in Malta. By encouraging high-calibre research through the fund, the University of Malta will continue to deliver tangible outcomes leading to a better quality of life.

EDITORIAL NOTE: In Malta, the National Health Screening Services administers the National Cancer Screening Register — for breast cancer, colorectal cancer and cervix cancer screening. Further information about the screening services is available through the webpage of the official body.

“A screening test tries to find a disease before there are any symptoms. With breast cancer, there’s a misconception that if you feel fine, don’t have a lump, and have no family history of breast cancer, you’re okay. The truth is that three-quarters of the women in whom we find breast cancer have no risk factors. So screening is important for everyone,” according to a quote by Susan Greenstein Orel, M.D., posted on the related subpage of the Government of Malta.

The post Art exhibition ‘Pink’ raises funds for breast cancer research first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Gaming Standards Association (GSA) and Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) mark a decade-long partnership this year, according to a press release. The two bodies tagged this anniversary as an important milestone. They say that their cooperation has resulted in increased education, improvements in standards and spurred gaming technology research.

“When we first began exploring the idea of a partnership between GSA and MPI, we found we shared a desire to educate young people about the technical issues that support the gaming business. Further, we wanted to create more awareness of the industry and the standards it challenged us to develop, all while staying alert to the role that new technologies can play especially in Asia,” said Peter DeRaedt, the President of GSA.

Macao Polytechnic Institute is a public institution of higher education with an emphasis on applied knowledge and skills. It offers courses and research possibilities in — but not limited to — gaming and recreation, casino management, business, marketing, e-commerce, and management.

Gaming Standards Association is an international trade association that creates benefits for gaming manufacturers, suppliers, operators and regulators. The company has offices worldwide including GSA Europe in Malta.

The post GSA and MPI mark ten-year partnership ‘milestone’ first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.
