										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index (RPI) dropped to 1.68%, compared to 1.9% of the previous month, according to the latest figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO). The twelve-month moving average rate for July stood at 1.68%</strong></p>



<p>The highest annual inflation was recorded in the sectors of food (3.77%) and housing (2.11%) while the lowest was seen in the sectors of clothing and footwear (-1.24%) and household equipment and maintenance (-0.10%).</p>



<p>The largest upward impact was registered in the food index (+0.81pp), due to prices take-away food, followed by transport and communication (+0.34pp) and recreation and culture (+0.17pp). </p>



<p>On the contrary, downward impacts were seen in the clothing and footwear index (-0.08pp) and the household equipment and maintenance costs index (-0.01pp), due to lower prices of garments and furniture.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index (RPI) in Malta increased to 1.9% in June, up from 1.87% in May, according to the latest figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO). </strong></p>



<p>In addition, the twelve-month moving average rate for June stood at a 1.62% rate, as the NSO figures show.</p>



<p>The highest annual inflation was recorded in the sectors of food (4.24%) and housing (2.39%). Moreover, the lowest was registered in water, electricity, gas and fuels (0.03%), household equipment and household maintenance costs (0.20%).&nbsp;</p>



<p>The largest upward impact was in the food index, with +0.91 percentage points, due to higher prices of take-aways. While the second and the third were measured in the transport and communication index (+0.40pp) and in the housing index (+0.19pp), mainly due to higher prices of fuels and house maintenance services, respectively. </p>



<p>Moreover, no downward impacts were reported.&nbsp;</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index (RPI) in Malta dropped to 1.87% in May 2019, going down from 1.91% in the previous month, according to the figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO).</strong></p>



<p>The twelve-month moving average rate for May stood at a 1.54% rate, according to the NSO press release.</p>



<p>The NSO figures show also that the highest annual inflation was recorded in the sector of food (4.82%) and in housing (2.44%). The lowest inflation was registered in the clothing and footwear field (-1.61%) and water, electricity, gas and fuels (0.03%).</p>



<p>In addition, the largest upward impact on annual inflation in food was of 1.04 percentage points (pp), due to a price growth of take-away service.  </p>



<p>The second and third largest impact was recorded in transports and communications, with 0.38pp and also housing (0.19pp), mainly because of higher costs of fuels and house maintenance services respectively, according to the NSO figures published. </p>



<p>Furthermore, the downward impact was registered in clothing and footwear, with 0.11, mainly caused by lower prices of footwear.</p>
