Malta-based digital asset exchange OKEx will launch its second OK Jumpstart project, ALLIVE (ALV), and will launch its related token sale tomorrow, 16 May 2019, according to a press statement.

ALLIVE is an “intelligent healthcare ecosystem based on blockchain technology”, which aims to provide standardised formats for health data integration, to support high user concurrency, to protect data privacy via decentralised and encrypted storage, and to support extension compatibility, the press statement describes.

The ALLIVE team has been in partnership with Ontology since August 2018 to facilitate inter-business collaboration and data sharing. Such partnership aims to develop a decentralized healthcare ecosystem and a smart blockchain network, according to the company.

“As always, OK Jumpstart weighs the potential of each supporting projects and ALLIVE simply captures the essences of blockchain technology by applying it to new use cases. It sets a good example in demonstrating how the technology can transform healthcare procedures and improve our lives, such as making electronic medical records more readily available for doctors to access without sacrificing the security of our personal data,” said Andy Cheung, Head of Operations of OKEx.

“We have experienced tremendous growth that the blockchain technology brings to our financial system, but the power of blockchain is limitless. We can also use it to establish a sustainable smart health community to enhance the healthcare ecosystem so it can be more accessible and more affordable for everyone,” the OKEx chief added.

The companies say that the ageing population faces a greater prevalence of chronic diseases or new diseases, and costly medical solutions or targeted treatments might not be an affordable option for everyone. With the ever-rising healthcare cost, the companies hope that by adopting blockchain technology can effectively minimise the struggle of managing medical and financial challenges.

The post OKEX teams with ALLIVE for 2nd OK Jumpstart project first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Global investment platform TokenMarket is planning to raise £10m via a Security Token Offering (STO), according to a press statement issued by the company. TokenMarket has offices in Malta.

TokenMarket says the STO, which is open to professional and self-certified investors, marks the first of its kind where the shares issued are represented as blockchain based digital tokens. The crowdfunding campaign is expected to take place within the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Regulatory Sandbox.

Over the last two years, TokenMarket has assisted innovative blockchain companies in raising more than £240m.

“There is a huge unmet demand for growth finance, particularly amongst tech startups. Europe has markedly failed to match the prowess of the US in nurturing technology champions that drive innovation, economic growth and job creation,” says Ransu Salovaara, TokenMarket CEO and Co-Founder. “At the same time, everyday investors are often shut off from exciting investment opportunities. We firmly believe that STOs will help to solve this dilemma by democratising access to finance while providing the same investor protections as traditional securities,” he adds.

TokenMarket garnered £9m revenue in the past financial year. Up to this point, the company says it has been self-funded in its entirety. TokenMarket plans to use the additional funding to fully capitalise on the expected £77bn a year market of startup and growth company financing.

“Over the past 12 months, our team has been working on tokenised securities. We have designed and built an open-source platform that focuses on market transparency and security. We believe we have constructed a fully compliant yet non-custodial, blockchain-based platform that helps early-stage companies raise funding while potentially giving investors earlier liquidity,” says Mikko Ohtamaa, TokenMarket CTO and Co-Founder.

The TokenMarket platform is planning to expand with the inclusion of its security token exchanges in the European Union and Dubai.

The TokenMarket STO launches in two stages; a private placement for professional investors which is now open, and a tokenised equity crowdfunding campaign for self-certified investors which is expected to take place in March 2019.

TokenMarket is a global investment platform with offices in London, Gibraltar, Helsinki, Malta and Singapore.

Blockchain-based logistics service provider Serve announced to have been listed on the digital asset platform of Bittrex International, according to a press statement published by Bittrex.

Thanks to the listing, SERV token on Bittrex International is available for trade. With all transactions now clearing through the cryptocurrency exchange, Serve aspires to become a global engine for e-commerce while expanding its worldwide footprint.

“Our listing on Bittrex International is a tremendous honour considering its highly selective process,” says Shahan Ohanessian, CEO of Serve. “It is not only a vote of confidence that there is a global market for our blockchain-based technology but also a recognition of Serve’s potential to increase transparency and decentralise logistics for customers across the globe,” the CEO adds.

Bittrex International operates a digital asset platform built on Bittrex’s trading technology. Their international trading platform operates within the regulatory framework established by the European Union and Maltese Government, including the Malta Virtual Financial Assets Act. The company has announced intentions to apply to the Malta Financial Services Authority to become a regulated Virtual Financial Asset exchange.

The post Serve lists token on Bittrex trading platform first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.
