Total inbound tourists for February were estimated at 210,305, an increase of 24.2% when compared to the corresponding month in 2024, the NSO said Monday.
During the month under review, a total of 191,617 inbound tourists visited Malta for holiday purposes, and 12,035 tourists came for business purposes. The largest share of inbound tourists consisted of persons between 25 and 44 (38%), followed by the 45-64 age bracket (34.2%). British, Polish and Italian residents made up 46.8% of total inbound tourists.
Total nights spent went up by 21.8% when compared to February 2024, surpassing 1.2 million nights. The largest share of guest nights (90%) was spent in rented accommodation establishments. The average length of stay of total inbound tourists stood at 5.9 nights.
Total tourist expenditure surpassed €146.8 million, an increase of 28.2% over the corresponding month in 2024. The average expenditure per night was estimated at €118.7.
The number of tourists visiting Gozo and Comino, including both same-day and overnight visitors, totalled 95,450, or 45.4% of total tourists.
January-February
Inbound tourists for the first two months of 2025 amounted to 404,463, an increase of 18.3% over the same period in 2024. Total nights spent by inbound tourists went up by 16.6%, almost reaching 2.4 million nights.
Total tourist expenditure was estimated at €289.4 million, 28.8% higher than that recorded for the same period in 2024. Total expenditure per capita increased to €716 from €657 in 2024.
The number of tourists visiting Gozo and Comino, including both same-day and overnight visitors, totalled 186,690, or 46.2% of total tourists.
