Almost 300 million internet security threats have been blocked by Melita’s Umbrella cyber-security service since its launch a year ago, underlining the effectiveness offered by the facility.
Umbrella, a Cisco product, intercepts attempts to click on suspect links and stops the connection being made, protecting the user’s network and devices, without interfering with their browsing experience.
The service protects users from phishing attacks and malware – malicious software which can infect devices and put personal data at risk – including specific threats such as Browser Hijackers, Trojans, Ransomware and Information Stealers.
If any devices are compromised, Umbrella also prevents them from communicating with hackers’ Command and Control servers, helping to identify potentially infected devices on networks.
Mireille Muscat, Head of Marketing at Melita, said: “Browsing the internet has become increasingly risky. The Umbrella cyber security service has been remarkably successful and literally acts like a safety net that offers users peace of mind.”
