The Association of Catering Establishments (ACE) takes note of the recent COVID 19 diffusion and the measures introduced. In the light of the circumstances, ACE would like to express its solidarity to other sectors of the economy but as of today , the Prime Minister has once again announced measures that are necessary in the circumstance trying to take stock of the issues being faced by businesses. Indeed the ACE believes that a total lock down is not the way forward. Malta may control the pandemic with smart measures.
The ACE would like to thank Government for the assistance it is providing to businesses which it understands that these positive measures are even more difficult than those taken a year ago given that even Government has its financial budgets to manage.
The ACE calls on certain commercial landlords to show a better sense of understanding in these very difficult circumstances – so supporting their tenants with lesser rents, would go a long way in helping to sustain this massive blow at their revenue stream.
ACE would like to note that there is obviously no crystal ball and rhetoric is totally uncalled for at this stage. Malta should unite behind the Prime Minister to overcome this unprecedented moment in the country’s history.
The ACE however, once again calls for appropriate analysis to identify the true main source of the dispersion of the virus. This may also be a good opportunity to work on addressing certain administrative issues such as the licensing system.
ACE calls on every resident in Malta to do its best to avoid further transmission of the Pandemic. Lets stay united to stay safe and protect each other.
