ATTO, the Association of Trailer and Truck Operators in Malta is immensely satisfied with the European Court of Justice’s announced decision, which recognises the disproportionate burdens that the ‘return of vehicles’ rule would have imposed on its members and the wider Maltese economy.

This ruling by the ECJ underscores the importance of unity in addressing challenges that impact our sector and serves as a powerful reminder that when national issues are approached collaboratively and free from political bias, positive outcomes are not only possible but achievable.

For the past months, ATTO has persistently lobbied and advocated for a fairer approach that aligns with the realities faced by our local international trailer operators and its efforts, alongside the support of government officials, Malta’s representatives in Europe and other stakeholders, have finally borne fruit.

This outcome is not just a victory for ATTO but for all Maltese trailer operators. It demonstrates that collective action, driven by the interests of our industry rather than political agendas, can lead to significant and impactful results.

ATTO is grateful for the support it has always received and remains committed to working collaboratively to ensure that our industry can thrive in a competitive and equitable market.

“As we celebrate this victory, we reaffirm our commitment to advocating for policies that support the growth and sustainability of the Maltese trailer service sector. Together, we will continue to champion fairness and efficiency in our operations, ensuring that our industry remains robust and capable of serving the needs of consumers without unnecessary financial burdens,” said Joseph Bugeja, Chairman of ATTO.
