Professor Juanito Camilleri, who served as non-executive Chairman of Epic Communications Limited (‘Epic’) for the past two and a half years, has decided to step down to pursue other interests and commitments. He has enabled Epic to become the fastest growing telecom brand in the country, thanks to his experience and vision in the telecom field, and great focus on providing the best customer experience.
Epic announces the appointment of Marisa Xuereb as non-executive Chair of the Board of Directors, succeeding Professor Camilleri, as of April 3rd, 2023. Xuereb is outgoing President of The Malta Chamber of Commerce, having recently finished her two-year tenure. Prior to that she sat on Council of the Chamber for six years, serving first as Vice-President and Deputy President. Having held various directorship roles with Malta Enterprise, MCAST, MCST, and the Chamber’s PPP, Education Malta, she is also the long-standing managing director at Raesch Quarz (Malta) Ltd, with over 25 years of experience in the FDI manufacturing industry. Her experience is complemented by a strong academic background – she holds a master’s degree in economics – and is a well-established face on local policy fora.
Professor Camilleri thanked the shareholders for entrusting him with this role: “It was indeed a privilege to have been part of the team which saw the birth and steady growth of Epic. I have no doubt that under the strong leadership of Epic CEO Pierre-Etienne Cizeron, and the guidance and commercial acumen of Marisa Xuereb, Epic will go from strength to strength.”
On behalf of Epic’s shareholders, Epic CEO, Pierre-Etienne Cizeron commented on her appointment and the departure of her predecessor, saying: “On behalf of the shareholders and the entire team at Epic, we warmly thank Professor Camilleri, a pioneer in the telecoms industry, who was highly instrumental during the acquisition of Epic, and the development of the brand to become the fastest growing telecom player in Malta. We welcome Ms. Xuereb, and are excited to have her on board, bringing a new perspective moulded by her business experience and academic background, as Epic continues its journey to connect Malta to the future.”
