Epic’s investment programme in Malta has reached a new milestone: the operator is announcing the launch of a full national mobile network modernisation project through an investment worth more than €40m.

This will not only see the growth and strengthening of Epic’s current mobile network, but it will also pave way for the roll-out of 5G in Malta. Epic signed a long-term partnership with Ericsson to provide best 5G experience in Malta, as the Swedish multinational telecommunications company has been selected as Epic’s radio access network (RAN) provider partner for the network modernisation project.

In line with its brand promise “Great network. Great Value.”, Epic is investing in next generation telecommunications infrastructure in Malta with the support of its shareholders, Monaco Telecom. Epic’s network has been awarded Best Network and Most Recommended Network certificates from both industry and customer surveys time and time again, and this modernisation project will help the company to further deliver on its brand promise.

“We are investing heavily in our promise of great network and great value for our customers in Malta. Our aim is to make a quantum leap with our award-winning network, taking it to the next stage and continue to provide the best network in Malta. Our modernisation project is going to bring wider coverage and faster speeds and is also going to make 5G available to our customers. We are pleased that following a very rigorous technology partner selection process, we are accelerating the evolution of our network to step into Malta’s digital future to help Maltese consumers and businesses unlock their full potential,” said Epic Malta’s CEO Tamas Banyai.

This news of Epic’s network modernisation project follows the operator’s more recent announcement regarding the partnership with Phoenix Tower International (PTI), which helps Epic accelerate its investment plans in its network and digital services. The full mobile radio network modernisation project with Ericcson is an integral part of this strategic plan.

The investment reaffirms Epic’s commitment to continue playing a key role in the development and upgrade of Malta’s infrastructure that will reshape people’s digital experience and accelerate economic growth by providing new business opportunities for innovation and productivity.
