A significant amount of fish with a market-price of thousands of euros was confiscated and sealed during an investigation led by the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, according to a press release by the government’s Department of Information (DOI).
The fish included tuna and were found during an operation in the Industrial zone of Ta’ Maġġi in Żabbar. The investigation was led by officers of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture together with the Directorate of Veterinary Regulations and the Directorate of Environmental Health, the press statement says.
The fish lacked traceability and included false statements, according to reports. Some of these fish were found in a room which did not follow the parameters set out by law. According to the press statement, the investigation is expected to continue in the coming days.
