Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg was accompanied by a Maltese Parliamentary delegation for meetings with Senators and Congressmen on Capitol Hill, Washington D.C., in the United States of America.
The delegation was formed of MP Glen Bedingfield as Chair of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee and MP Beppe Fenech Adami as the Opposition Member of the same committee. The delegation was accompanied by Malta’s Ambassador to the United States Godfrey Xuereb.
During the meetings the delegation explained the role that Malta is taking as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and its political stands in the face of the war in Ukraine. The political situation in the Mediterranean was discussed and the geopolitical role of Malta working for peace and security in the region was explained.
