The European Union council has officially appointed George Hyzler on the European Court of Auditors, a statement from the court said today.
He will serve for six years, starting from 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2028. He will be replacing Leo Brincat, whose term expires in September.
The court also appointed Lefteris Christoforou, who served as an MEP for Cyprus since 2014.
Hyzler served as Malta’s Standards Commissioner for the last years. His replacement is still to be announced.
Hyzler had passed both the first and second stage of the nomination process.
In a tweet, Brincat congratulated Hyzler on his appointment.
