Prime Minister Robert Abela on Thursday visited the premises of a Germany company in Hal Far where he inaugurated a €12 million investment project and announced that the firm will continue to expand with another project worth €9 million.

The company, Seifert Systems Limited, manufactures devices which regulate temperatures in various industrial machines. It set up shop in Malta 50 years ago and today employs 450 people. The new investment will increase the number of employees by 140.

In a brief address, Abela said that the company reflected the country’s economic vision as its operations were environment-friendly and sustainable.

He added that the company is seeking new markets, and insisted that the government has no plans to stop subsidising the increased energy costs.

Abela said the government was conscious of the challenges in the employment sector and spoke about the government’s investment in education, aimed to attract more students in subjects related to science, engineering and mathematics.
