The announced schemes by Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela and Minister for Energy, Enterprise, and Sustainable Development Dr Miriam Dalli, will further support the recovery and restart of businesses on the Maltese Islands and particularly those in the touristic sector.
These support schemes will encourage and assist further the different business sectors not only in their recovery endeavours, but also to plan ahead through the crucial coming months. Furthermore, the announced measures include another grant as support for those establishments like the Bars, who will not be operating as yet after the 10th of May, 2021.
The Gozo Tourism Association notes that during the consultation with officials from the Ministry for Energy Enterprise and Sustainable Development and Malta Enterprise, the regional dimension and constraints of the island of Gozo were discussed at length and these schemes include add ons for specific investment on Gozo.
The Gozo Tourism Association observes that the digital and the green economy sectors are highlighted in these schemes, which sectors the Association deems as the perfect opportunities to diversify the Gozitan economy. Finally, the whole touristic sector on Gozo is still suffering the burnt of covid-19, and the various restrictive measures introduced from time to time, thus the rent schemes and subsidies on the electricity bills will help in mitigating the financial losses of the Gozitan tourism establishments
