Hospice Malta has appointed Andrew Zammit as its new Chief Relations Officer, responsible for leveraging relations with patients, partners, suppliers and employees in order to attract, retain, grow and sustain Hospice Malta for its future growth plans.
Zammit will, in particular, prioritise all fundraising efforts that will lead to the opening of St Michael Hospice, a new palliative care complex providing free services to patients and their families.
Andrew Zammit said he was honoured to join the NGO at such an important time, as it prepares to complete its palliative care complex in Sta Venera. “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the wonderful team at Hospice Malta. It is a huge honour and enormous responsibility to be asked to help lead a new chapter in this organisation’s formidable history. I have witnessed first-hand the incredible work carried out by the professional team and numerous volunteers, and I am delighted to now be a part of it.’
Zammit moved to Hospice Malta from 89.7 Bay, where he was the radio station’s General Manager. He previously worked as Group Sales Manager at hospitality giant Eden Leisure Group, where he built a strong network of valuable contacts in the Maltese business community.
Hospice Malta (VO/0062), based in Balzan, aims to provide and promote the highest possible standards of palliative care. The organisation offers support to those suffering from cancer, motor neuron disease, and serious cardiac, respiratory and renal illnesses as well as their families and loved ones.
Their multi-disciplinary team of professionals and volunteers provide holistic care, free-of-charge, to around 1,300 patients every year, and have been doing so for the past three decades.
The NGO plans to expand its services by completing Malta’s first ever complex dedicated solely to hospice care. St Michael Hospice in Sta Venera will allow for the expansion of the present Hospice services as well as additional services including an inpatient unit.
