Once again, Hudson will be sponsoring the Malta Paralympic team through its leading brand Nike, for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, being held between 28 August and 8 September.

As main sponsor, Hudson will be providing the Malta team with their officially-sponsored Nike gear, kits and bags.

Hudson represents Nike in Malta as well as in over 30 countries in Africa. This is the second time Hudson will be sponsoring the national team for the Paralympic Games after it supported Team Malta during the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Hudson launches inspirational videos celebrating the Malta Paralympic team

Celebrating our Maltese Paralympians for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Hudson has launched a series of videos showcasing the strengths and unwavering perseverance of Malta’s Paralympians. The videos expressed a message of strength and encouragement, truly showing that as Nike’s co-founder Bill Bowerman stated “if you have a body, you are an athlete”.

Speaking on behalf of Hudson, Nike Group Marketing specialist, Kim Ellul Sullivan mentioned how: “As Hudson and through the Nike brand we are proud to support the Maltese Paralympic team throughout their journey in the Games in Paris. We believe in the power of sport to inspire and unite. This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting athletes of all abilities, celebrating their determination and empowering them to reach their full potential. Wishing the team the best of luck!”

“Adaptive athletes embody the true spirit of sportsmanship and resilience. Our Olympic athletes are the ambassadors of sport, by changing perceptions and breaking down negative stigmas so that the new generation and beyond with disability can live the lives that they deserve to live. And when you think about it like that, it’s bigger than winning at any time,” explained Indrek Heinmets, Nike Brand director at Hudson.

Malta’s Paralympians

For these much-awaited Games, Malta will be represented by Maja Theuma (swimming) and Antonio Flores (athletics).

Theuma, who is 24, brings seven years+ experience in the sport, having competed and established national records at local time trials and national championships, as well as major international competitions, including the Para Swimming European and World Championships. Maja competes in the S6 Para swimming category. Antonio Flores, who is 34 years old, is one of Malta’s longest-standing Para athletes, with over 15 years+ experience and having represented Malta at major championships, including the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. Antonio will be competing in the 100m and 200m T64 class, also known as the single-leg amputee blade running events.

The Malta Paralympic Committee (MPC)

The Malta contingent will be led by MPC secretary general, Dr Julian Bajada, who will serve in the role of Chef de Mission for the Games. Bajada, a Para athlete himself who collaborated with Hudson for his 2022 Rowing Challenge, highlighted that: “Our campaign and partnership with Hudson, through Nike, demonstrates how we are changing the narrative around persons with disabilities and sport. Having a leading brand support Team Malta for the Paralympic Games underlines our joint commitment to supporting local talent and inspiring the next generation of athletes. We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Hudson following our first collaboration at Tokyo 2020.”

The team will be accompanied by Prof. Joseph Grima (MPC president), Dr Edward Caruana Dingli (Para swimming coach, Exiles SC), Dr Danica Bonello Spiteri (Team doctor) and Vladyslava Kravchenko (MPC treasurer and candidate for the International Paralympic Committee Athletes’ Council elections).
