A sectoral agreement was signed on Wednesday between the Internal Audit and Investigations Directorate (IAID) and UHM Voice of the Workers.

This is the first agreement of its kind for the employees of the Directorate.

The sectoral agreement provides better career progression opportunities for workers at different levels, strengthens existing benefits, and introduces new ones which reflect the responsibilities of the Directorate’s employees.

The Secretary to the Cabinet Ryan Spagnol explained how this sectoral agreement is the result of extensive discussions between the employees, their representatives, and the Industrial Relations Unit of the People and Standards Division within the Office of the Prime Minister.

“This agreement will translate into better conditions for the Directorate’s employees while creating other quality employment opportunities within the Public Service. This is another initiative which reflects the Government’s commitment in a matter as important as the responsible use of national and European funds,” said the Secretary to the Cabinet.

Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana presided over the signing of the agreement. Permanent Secretary within the Office of the Prime Minister Joyce Cassar and the Director General of the Internal Audit and Investigations Directorate Stefano Manicolo were also present for the signing of the sectoral agreement.
