KPMG in Malta launched the 8th edition of the Construction Industry and Property Market report at the Building our Future | Property Malta National Conference 2024, on Tuesday 19 November 2024.

This event, which brought together developers, property investors, agents, bankers, legal and architectural professionals and policymakers under one roof, was organised by the Property Malta Foundation with the support of KPMG in Malta.

“We are pleased to see that through this research, stakeholders come together, shedding light on shared challenges, fostering collaboration, and empowering the taking of collective action for meaningful change,” explained KPMG’s Head of Advisory David Pace.

Over 400 attendees participated in this pivotal event, featuring high-profile speakers, with Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Robert Abela delivering the opening address. Following the presentation of the report by KPMG’s Head of Advisory David Pace and Director Steve Stivala, the stage was set for two thought-provoking panel discussions.

The first panel, featuring Prof. Alex Torpiano, Prof. Rebecca Dalli Gonzi, Michael Stivala and Leon Chetcuti from the Malta Development Association, and Prof. Arnold Cassola, explored the latest trends, challenges, and growth opportunities within Malta’s construction industry.

Following this, the second panel featured Property Malta’s Sandro Chetcuti, Prof. Marie Briguglio, Matthew Zerafa from the Housing Authority, Steve Mercieca from QuickLets and Zanzi Homes, and Kenneth Farrugia from Bank of Valletta plc. Panellists provided valuable insights into current property market trends, pricing strategies, and the challenges surrounding affordability in Malta.

KPMG’s ESG lead Rachel Decelis also delivered a presentation on property prices, affordability and ESG considerations, alongside KPMG’s Steve Stivala. The conference also included addresses by Hon. Clint Camilleri (Minister for Gozo and Planning), Hon. Stanley Zammit (Member of Parliament), and a closing speech by Hon. Ian Borg (Deputy Prime Minister).

The conference concluded with a networking lunch and all attendees received a complimentary copy of the Construction Industry and Property Market Report 2024.
