The third Fund Managers’ Conference, co-ordinated by Jesmond Mizzi Financial Advisors (JMFA), brought together local financial professionals and international investment experts earlier this month at Trident Park.

In his opening remarks, Jesmond Mizzi, Managing Director at JMFA, welcomed delegates and expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between local advisors and global fund managers. He thanked representatives from Janus Henderson Investors, Franklin Templeton, and Aegon Asset Management for their participation and continued support in fostering knowledge-sharing within the industry.

Nick Edwardson, Head of UK Investment Specialists at Aegon Asset Management, discussed “Bonds in the Age of Uncertainty,” exploring market drivers and why bonds remain an attractive option within multi-asset income strategies. He noted that elevated yields present compelling opportunities for long-term investors.

Ajay Dayal, Senior Client Portfolio Manager at ClearBridge Investments (part of Franklin Templeton), examined the investment case for infrastructure. He highlighted global policy shifts, surging power demand from AI and onshoring, and the accelerating expansion of renewable energy as key tailwinds for the sector, offering investors steady income, inflation protection, and diversification.

Hugo Cryer, Client Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors, spoke about European Equities and the region’s return to growth. He outlined Europe’s plans to boost investment in defence and infrastructure, particularly in Germany, while pointing to key sectors driving innovation and competitiveness.

The conference provided an opportunity for local financial advisors to exchange insights with global fund managers and gain perspective on the trends shaping global markets.
