Malta’s Economic Development agency, carves out time to thank and motivate its staff in an innovative way. Since March, ME was responsible of managing the COVID Wage supplement to the benefit of thousands of Maltese workers in these trying times.

Malta Enterprise believes in investing in the wellbeing of its team members, particularly during such turbulent times. Due to the current remote working arrangements which have been put in place to safeguard each and every team member, most employees have not been meeting each other since the start of the pandemic.

However, such circumstances and the teams’ sterling work, did not go unnoticed by Senior Management. On the 30th October, the Corporation organised an event – with a difference – aimed at putting its team members first. The event was entirely online. Motivation and resilience were the key thematic messages through a series of interventions from speakers from all walks of life.

TV presenter and actor Ray Calleja moderated the event and lightened up the mood by giving the event a humoristic touch.  Singer Destiny Chuckenyere shared her own personal story on how Covid-19 has affected her and her participation during this year’s Eurovision.

Malta’s Ambassador to Sports Malta and athlete Jake Vella, has given his own experience on how he has not left one of the rarest conditions in the world, ROHHAD, get in his way and is following his father’s footsteps by participating in triathlons.

From a business perspective, two beneficiaries of Malta Enterprise; Spring Productions and Quintain Pharma, have expressed their gratitude and appreciation towards the Corporation, and have highlighted the importance on the role Malta Enterprise and Business First have played in their businesses’ growth, not just during the pandemic.

Sharon Cusens, a Life Coach by profession, has also provided a motivational talk and provided a few hints and tips on how to cope and de-stress.

Last but not least, Her Excellency Vanessa Frazier, Ambassador & Permanent Representative of Malta to the United Nations, has also provided some insight on how the United Nations, on the year that marks their 75th Anniversary, is dealing with the current pandemic and the effects it has had on the diplomatic world.

The event was also addressed by Malta Enterprise’s Chairman William Wait and CEO Kurt Farrugia. Apart from giving updates on the Corporation’s future plans, they have also expressed their gratitude towards the team members and the importance of their work, particularly during the past months, which was and still is crucial in assisting businesses to bounce back from the challenges they are currently facing.

Malta Enterprise and Business First have been playing a crucial role in these recent months having been on the front line of administering various support measures such as Wage Supplement, Quarantine Leave, assisting companies to adapt to teleworking facilities, and rent and electricity refund schemes. Malta Enterprise has also extended its existing schemes and launched new ones to address business needs, aiming to enhance innovation processes within companies so as to adapt to new realities.

The event was given a CSR twist and money has been collected in aid of the Community Chest Fund.
