Malta Public Transport has honoured the dedication and achievements of its team during its Annual Employee Awards ceremony, placing the spotlight on those who go above and beyond to deliver a reliable, safe and efficient service to bus passengers.

With a team of over 1,600 people, Malta Public Transport recognises that its people are its most important asset. As part of its ongoing commitment to improving the quality of the public transport service, the company recognised over 70 individuals whose performance, professionalism and customer-first approach have had a direct impact on the passenger experience. From safe driving and fuel efficiency to problem-solving and leadership, the awards are not just about recognition; they also serve as inspiration to other members of the team to adopt a customer-centric mindset.

Addressing the Awards ceremony, Malta Public Transport Chairman Felipe Cosmen congratulated the winners and shared his appreciation for the employees’ contribution towards the increasing usage of public transport services. Confidence in the public transport service has grown steadily over the years, reaching a milestone of over 75 million passengers in 2024.

“Every journey a customer takes with us begins and ends with you—our team. You are Malta Public Transport, and it is your work that shapes the public’s trust in our company. Encouraging more people to use our services has a real impact: it reduces congestion, supports sustainability, and improves quality of life for everyone in Malta,” he said.

At the heart of the ceremony were the Bus Driver of the Year Awards, which recognised outstanding drivers from each bus depot. These individuals delivered flawless safety records and excelled in efficient driving practices, which have a direct impact on the passenger experience. Equally significant were the Safe Driver and Efficient Driver Awards, which rewarded drivers with the best records throughout the year. Employee of the Year Awards were also given to team members in the various departments supporting the service behind the scenes, ensuring that operations run smoothly and that passengers’ needs are met at every level.

As Malta Public Transport celebrates its tenth year of operations in Malta, the company also paid tribute to the 200 loyal employees who have been part of the journey since day one. The 10 Years of Service Award acknowledges loyalty, experience, and the invaluable contribution towards improving the public transport service over the past decade.

The ceremony reaffirmed Malta Public Transport’s ongoing investment in its people—recognising achievement, quality and efficient service, and ultimately delivering a better journey for all.
