MFSA website cloned for malicious intent

The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) has just informed the public that a duplicate of their website has been created under the name of NFSA.

The layout and contents of the malicious website are identical to that of the MFSA and it seems to be going under the name of NFSA to mimic the Netherland Financial Service Authority. The website domain is www.nfsa.nl however the website is currently offline.

MFSA stated that it has no association with the MFSA and emails being sent by the NFSA are not originating from the Maltese authority.

Alerts have been sent to the public to not provide any sensitive and confidential information to the clone website on social media, email or any other method. “The Authority communicates with the public only through its official channels and the public should be extra cautious when being approached via unconventional channels such as telephone calls, emails or social media.”

MFSA calls for any suspicion of financial scams to be reported immediately to the authority and for contact to me made with MFSA as soon as possible. For more information on clone websites, the authority calls for the public to refer to the Scam Detection Guidelines issued by the authority.
