In order to strengthen the relationship between Malta and the United States, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg and his delegation were in Washington DC to meet senior government officials, according to a press release by the government’s Department of Information (DOI).
Mr Borg visited the Department of Homeland Security and held talks with Deputy Assistant for International Affairs Robert Paschall, who acknowledged Malta’s and growing economy; as well as highlighted the recent success in the maritime and aviation industries.
After that, the minister met Joe Balash, the Assistant at the Department of Interior, responsible for Land Management. In addition, he visited the Department of Transportation where he met Chief Financial Officer for Infrastructure Daniel DeBono and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Aviation John Short, according to the press release.
In New York, Mr Borg met representatives from different media outlets, and he visited the Maltese Centre where he met with the Maltese living in that community.
During his stay in the United States, Mr Borg was being accompanied by Malta’s Ambassador to the United States Keith Azzopardi, Infrastructure Malta CEO Fredrick Azzopardi, and Chief of Staff Julian Tabone.
