Public Broadcasting Services employees and the General Workers Union signed a new collective agreement to provide more financial stability for PBS employees, according to a press release by the DOI.
“Through this agreement, we guarantee more stability for the employees of PBS. This fulfils the station’s aim to acknowledge its human resources by strengthening its employees’ motivation and commitment to accomplish the aims of its operations, while also ensuring better quality in its services. This also leads to more competitive and commercial sustainability for the station,” says Owen Bonnici, Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government.
The agreement is valid from 2019 until 2023 and highlights how employees will benefit from better salaries through the introduction of eight new levels of competencies. Employees will benefit from an increase in increments and in the maximum salary grade, guaranteeing progression, according to the press statement.
Employee shift allowance has been increased by 40% and the allowance which recognises qualifications has been doubled. The five-year agreement features updated family-friendly company policies following current laws and also highlights PBS’ national mission and business plan.
