On the 1st November 2021 MaltaPost will issue a miniature sheet to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Malta Senate and Legislative Assembly.
In 1921, after more than a century of direct rule from London, Malta was granted the Amery-Milner Constitution, enabling the Maltese to elect their very own Government. A Maltese Government was to deal with internal affairs while the Imperial British Government was to be responsible for all matters relative to defence and foreign affairs.
The stamp within the miniature sheet measures 31 mm x 44 mm, with a comb perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 and bears the Maltese Cross watermark. The miniature sheet itself measures 120 mm x 80 mm and was produced in the offset process by Printex Ltd. The issue, designed by MaltaPost, consists of 20,000 miniature sheets with each sheet bearing a value of €5.50.
Also, MaltaPost and the Central Bank of Malta will be launching a joint product consisting of a silver foil stamp replica and a commemorative coin. The stamp replica reproduces the €5.50 postage stamp from the 100th of the Anniversary Malta Senate and Legislative Assembly issue. The silver coin has a diameter of 38.61mm with a face value of €10.00. The stamp replica and the commemorative coin are housed in a presentation box together with a certificate of authenticity.
These items will be available from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo as from Monday 1st November 2021.
