Prime Minister inaugurates €25 million investment in a new hotel

We want to keep improving the level of Malta’s tourism product, Prime Minister Robert Abela said while inaugurating a €25 million investment in a new hotel in St Julian’s on Wednesday.

He said that the country must continue to look at growth that is sustainable with a clear vision for the tourism sector to attract quality tourists to a nicer and cleaner Malta.

At the AC Hotel by Marriott with 106 rooms and with excellent facilities, including an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, Abela, accompanied by his wife Lydia Abela, praised the investors as they continue to show confidence in Malta as an investment.

He said that “we cannot stop here and that is why the Government will continue to incentivize investment also in tourism.”

Here he referred to the recent upward revision made by the European Commission for Malta’s economic growth and pointed out how the same European institution stressed that Malta has and will continue to have the lowest unemployment rate.

During the visit to the hotel, which started welcoming its first tourists very recently, Abela said that the Government will continue to give support to bring certainty and stability even among those who are investing in our country.

He praised this latest investment in the hospitality sector and pointed out how our country is now looking at results in tourism that match those before the pandemic. Prime Minister Robert Abela explained how the work to address the challenge of seasonality in tourism must continue and be strengthened so that the positive trend of tourist numbers continues to be felt in other areas in Malta.

CEO of Baystreet Group Albert Galea, the Group that also manages this hotel, praised the work on this hotel investment. He said that he is proud of the fact that the line of hotels mentioned, spread in around 31 countries, also has a presence in Malta.

Present for the press conference was also the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo.
