Prime Minister visits Gozitan businesses which thrived after receiving support

During a visit to Gozo, Prime Minister Robert Abela toured two Gozitan businesses that have continued to thrive following the support they received, a Department of Information statement said Saturday.

Accompanying Abela on visits to David’s Bakery in Kerċem and Krispinu Farm in Sannat were Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri and Minister for Agriculture Anton Refalo.

At David’s Bakery, Abela observed the resilience of a family-run business that now employs 85 full-time staff. It was explained that this Gozitan company, known for its local products, has grown within the bread production industry.

The company’s representatives said that it continues to be dynamic, offering a variety of innovative products for consumers.

Minister Camilleri described the bakery as an excellent example of the determination of Gozitan businesses, which manage to overcome challenges such as double insularity.

During the visit to Krispinu Farm, Abela was informed that the farm provides training in livestock farming to numerous youths, enabling them to pursue careers in this essential sector.

It was noted that the farm has benefited from both public and European funding through schemes aimed at fostering innovation in its operations.

The operators of Krispinu Farm also explained how, during the pandemic, they received the necessary support to sustain their production activities despite significant challenges.

Minister Refalo said that the financial aid given to farmers and livestock producers in recent years has resulted in increased productivity and success.

He noted that this assistance ensures the continued availability of high-quality local products for Maltese and Gozitan consumers.
