In August 2023, the number of persons registering for work stood at 974 increasing by 52 persons when compared to the corresponding month in 2022.
Data provided by Jobsplus for August 2023 indicate a year-on-year increase of 44 persons and 8 persons registering under Part I and under Part II of the unemployment register, respectively. Increases in the registered unemployment levels were recorded in most of the age groups, excluding the under 20s and 25-29.
A year-on- year decrease of 11 persons and 43 persons was recorded among those registering for work for 21 to 52 weeks and for over one year, respectively. On the other hand, the number of persons registering for work for under 21 weeks increased by 106.
In August 2023, the number of persons with a disability who were registering for work increased by 15 when compared to the previous year, reaching 230 persons. Males accounted for 77.8 per cent of total registrants with a disability.
The largest share of males and females on the unemployment register sought occupations as Clerical support workers, with 20.7 per cent and 34.7 per cent respectively.
