Strong collaboration between Malta and Africa resulting in profitable investment and growth opportunities

Whilst marking Africa Day, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Evarist Bartolo and Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi visited a local company which has substantial investments and projects in Africa.

Having one of the largest facilities within the global aqua-cultural industry, AquaBioTech Group conducts business in over 50 countries.

Through Malta’s strong diplomatic relations in Africa and with the support of European funds, the company has implemented various projects in Kenya, Ghana and Namibia. This while exploring new investment opportunities, both in the aforementioned countries, as well as others in Africa, all of which are geared towards the development of new industries, resilient economies and a sustainable future.

The Minister and the Parliamentary Secretary held that this is a clear example of how the government is in tandem with the private sector to facilitate investment which is beneficial to both Malta and Africa.

This in the context of sincere cooperation as we strengthen Malta’s reputation as a strategic partner and a faithful interlocutor between the European Union and Africa.

Following the visit, the Minister, the Parliamentary Secretary and Malta’s Permanent Representative to the African Union Ronald Micallef held a virtual meeting with African youth who study at the University of Malta. During this meeting, there was an exchange of ideas on how to strengthen relations between our countries, present and future opportunities within the educational sector, commerce, equality and multi-culturalism.
