The first time the CEO of such authority was appointed following a public call
Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri welcomes the appointment of Dr Carl Brincat as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Gaming Authority. This appointment was transpired through a rigorous process following the issuance of a public call for applications in December of last year. This was the first time that the CEO was selected through an open call procedure as recommended by Minister Schembri himself.
“Such a process enhances the Authority’s credibility and determination in promoting transparency, as well as sending out a clear message to gaming operators on the seriousness of the Maltese jurisdiction. The newly appointed CEO shall enhance on the success achieved during the past years, namely in placing Malta as a main referral point within the gaming industry, repeatedly proving its resilience during such challenging times. The government is committed to providing its support and assistance to gaming companies, current and new ones, to grow in a safe and reputable environment. I congratulate Dr Brincat on his new role,” said Minister Schembri.
Dr Carl Brincat is a lawyer by profession, previously occupying the role of Chief Legal and Enforcement Officer within the MGA. He has been working with the MGA for the past six years and was part of the strategic direction team of the Authority, the high-level regulatory committees, as well as part of the team that spearheaded the change in the gaming regulatory framework, which was put into effect in 2018.
