
Total guests in collective accommodation establishments during the third quarter of 2025 stood at 782,220 while total nights spent amounted to 3,870,600, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said.
In the third quarter of 2025, the largest share of guest nights was reported in 4-star hotels, with 48.6% of the total, the NSO said.
The average length of stay in collective accommodation establishments in 2025 went down to 4.9 nights when compared to the figure registered during the same quarter of 2024. The net use of bed-places stood at 80.4%, down by 0.3 percentage points when compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, it said.
On a national level, during September 2025, there were 349 active collective accommodation establishments with a net capacity of 23,249 bedrooms and 53,211 bed-places.
Regional breakdown
On a regional level, total guests in Malta numbered 735,440, up by 7.2% over the third quarter of 2024. Additionally, an increase of 5.7% was recorded in the number of nights spent, reaching 3,721,852 nights. Total guests in Gozo and Comino increased by 19.9% to 46,780 while nights increased by 12.4% to 148,748.
When compared with the same quarter of the previous year, in Malta, the average length of stay remained on par, that is 5.1 nights, while in Gozo and Comino the average length of stay decreased to 3.2 nights. The net occupancy rate in Malta decreased by 0.2 percentage points, reaching 81.2%, and that in Gozo and Comino decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 64.6%, the NSO said.
