National flag carrier Cyprus Airways completed its maiden flight from Larnaca airport to Malta International Airport yesterday morning. Passengers were delighted by the water cannon salute that welcomed the airline to Malta, and later each passenger received a gift from Malta International Airport to mark the occasion.
Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) Chairman, Gavin Giulia was at the airport to welcome the first Cypriot visitors and to talk with the Cyprus Airways crew.
Cyprus Airways is continuing to pick up pace as the Summer begins in earnest, with a raft of destinations available from Cyprus that includes Malta. The airline will be flying the Malta route twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
A pioneer in the Cypriot travel industry, Cyprus Airways will also connect visitors flying from Malta to Larnaca via its international network to Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Skiathos, Preveza, Prague, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Rome, Tel Aviv, and Beirut. Cyprus Airways, with Malta enhancing its routes, now flies to 11 international destinations.
Cyprus Airways was awarded for its efforts to enrich local tourism during the last Cyprus Tourism Awards. In addition, Cyprus Airways has announced a zero penalty fee for flight changes on basic fare tickets.
