During 2022, the Eurosystem is celebrating 20 years of euro banknotes and coins. As a Eurosystem member, the Central Bank of Malta (Bank) is commemorating this important milestone in European integration history. As part of its activities, the Bank is organising a webinar about the 20 years of the Euro Banknotes and Coins on 17 March at 2:30pm.
The webinar will be opened by the Bank’s Governor, Professor Edward Scicluna. Ms Elaine Lenzo, Senior Officer at the Bank’s Currency Operations Office will talk about the advantages of euro cash and what lies ahead for the single currency. Mr John Caruana, Head Monetary Policy, Eurosystem & International Relations Department of the Bank, will deliver a presentation about monetary policy in the euro area since 1999. The keynote speech will be delivered by Mr Gilles Noblet, Principal Adviser Directorate General International and European Relations, European Central Bank. His speech will analyse the international role of the euro.
