Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Julia Farrugia Portelli visited the Malta at War Museum in Vittoriosa, one of four sites managed by Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna which have been recognised by the Travellers’ Choice Certificate awarded by TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel platform.

This award is given based on reviews of sites visited by tourists during their holiday. This award was also given to Forti Rinella in Kalkara and the Saluting Battery and the Lascaris War Rooms in Valletta.

In the past months and years, the Ministry for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority invested substantially in improving the experiences offered by Wirt Artna heritage sites.

Minister Farrugia Portelli observed the collection of objects and artefacts of wartime Malta, together with notices and newspaper cuttings of the time that shed a light on how the Maltese people lived between 1940 and 1943.

Minister Farrugia Portelli expressed satisfaction that this award was given to Wirt Artna sites.

“This award is a recognition of the government’s efforts in investing in these sites through the Ministry for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority. We have strived to improve our touristic product that ensures a most positive experience to those who visit Malta,” said Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli.

Wirt Artna Chairman and Chief Executive Mario Farrugia said this achievement is a recognition of Wirt Artna’s efforts to exhibit Maltese history and heritage in the best way possible to all visitors.

“The Wirt Artna Foundation has been receiving awards from TripAdvisor on a number of levels since 2014, however, this is the first time that we received this coveted award. It is a testament that our efforts here, with the support that we receive, are in the right direction”.
