Work on 8 residential roads in Mosta is in its final phases

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg visited the tad-Dib residential area in Mosta where infrastructural works to rebuild 8 roads are nearing completion. The project, carried out urgently in addition to a €700 million investment over 7 years, due to the bad state these roads were in, started in the second week of last February and is expected to be completed in the coming days.

“No local council can manage the costs and resources required for such an intervention. At the same time, the residents’ pleas cannot fall on deaf ears as they did for decades. The Government was, is and will remain committed to deliver quality infrastructure to everyone, from the busiest junction of the country to the quietest residential road. The €700 million project over 7 years is well underway and while we completed around 130 roads in the first year, work is currently ongoing on 50 others and we will work on more roads in the coming months. In the meantime, just as we promised, we are sitting down with local councils and listening to their priorities. That is why we can say that we have delivered projects such as this one at tad-Dib. We listened to residents, we listened to councils and we worked for their quality of life. Our infrastructural commitment counts for everyone, and we will continue working to raise the standard of living of our country”, said Minister Ian Borg.

In this area, work was done on Triq San Silvestru, Triq Kumbu, Triq il-Ballata, Triq Alofju Wignacourt, Triq il-Familja Cumbo, Triq il-Bdoti, Triq it-Taħħan and Triq ta’ Vnezja. These roads were rebuilt with stronger foundations, and underground services for water, electricity, internet and telecommunications were installed, together with 1.5 kilometres of pavements built for residents. Apart from these 8 roads, Infrastructure Malta is currently implementing projects on 3 other roads and is planning to start work on 11 other roads in Mosta.
