Total inbound visitors for November 2021 were estimated at 127,183, the National Statistics Office.

The figures are a far cry from the 14,936 visitors registered in November 2020.

The NSO said that, from the total for November, 110,831 were tourists while 11,668 visited for business reasons.

The largest share of inbound tourists – 42.8% – were aged between 25-44, closely followed by the age bracket 45-64, at 34.7%

French, German and Italian residents comprised 35.1% of total inbound tourists.

The largest share of guest nights – 85.4% – was spent in rented accommodation establishments.

The average length of stay of total inbound tourists stood at 6.9 nights.

Total tourist expenditure surpassed €92 million. The average expenditure per night was estimated at €104.7.

January to November

Inbound tourists for the first 11 months of 2021 amounted to 892,398, an increase of 38.2 per cent over the same period in 2020.

Total nights spent by inbound tourists increased by 52.3%, surpassing 7.6 million nights.

Total tourism expenditure was estimated at €815.8 million, a increase of 84.6% when compared to the same period in the previous year.

Total expenditure per capita stood at €914, increasing from €685 in the same period in 2020.
