194,545 inbound tourists registered in April

The number of inbound tourists in April amounted to 194,545, the National Statistics Office said, while total nights spent in Malta amounted to 1,215,521.

The NSO said that 175,067 inbound tourists visited Malta for holiday purposes, while 10,760 tourists visited for business purposes.

The largest share of inbound tourists were aged between 25-44 (38.9%), followed by the 45-64 age bracket (30.7%).

French, German and Italian residents made up 38.2% of total inbound tourists.

The largest share of guest nights (82.9%) was spent in rented accommodation establishments.

The average length of stay of total inbound tourists stood at 6.2 nights.

Total tourist expenditure almost reached €138.1 million, with the average expenditure per night estimated at €113.60.

The NSO also said that 429,841 tourists visited Malta in the first four months of the year.

Total nights spent surpassed 3 million.

Total tourist expenditure was estimated at €305.1 million. Total expenditure per capita stood at €710, decreasing from €904 in 2021.
