The Building and Construction Authority has appointed Perit Roderick Bonnici as the new Acting CEO, the government said Tuesday..

The Minister for Justice and Sectoral Reform of Construction, Jonathan Attard, also met with the board members and congratulate Bonnici on his appointment within this authority.

“The appointment of Perit Bonnici comes at a time when the authority is undergoing a restructuring process, in such a way that it will better respond more effectively and fulfill the government’s commitment to raising standards in the construction sector, in line with electoral pledges and the recommendations of the (Jean Paul Sofia) public inquiry,” Attard said.

Bonnici, who was the head of the section approving permit applications within the Building and Construction Authority, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Architecture as well as a Master’s qualification in Project Management from the University of Malta.

He has already served in the Building Regulations Office in the Enforcement Section, within the authority, and in the section responsible for third-party damage prevention. Previously, he also worked in the infrastructure sector with a public agency as well as in the construction sector on both private and public projects.
