Minister for Justice and Construction Reform, Jonathan Attard, announced that in line with the government’s commitment to giving a stronger voice to citizens affected by the construction sector, the Building and Construction Authority has issued two public calls.
One of these calls is for lawyers, and the other is for Architects who are interested in joining a pool of professionals to provide this new service.
“One of the priorities we have set in front of us in the reform of the construction sector is to give a stronger voice to those citizens who want to assert their rights in the construction sector, and this will be achieved with an investment in new services such as free legal and technical assistance,” said the Minister.
Attard mentioned that this service will eventually be complemented by a 24/7 helpline where individuals can report and address their complaints. This helpline will work in tandem with the strengthening of enforcement through a centralized division.
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) will be reviewing applications to select professionals to form this panel. This initiative aims to launch the new service free of charge for the benefit of citizens affected by the construction sector.
