The Central Bank of Malta signed a new agreement with Fondazzjoni Caritas Malta, to extend its Employees Assistance Programme for a period of three years.
Under this agreement, Caritas offers Bank employees and their immediate families help in the following areas: alcoholism; drug abuse; HIV/AIDS; financial difficulties; inadequate life skill habits; grief issues; wellness issues; depression; family and marital issues; gambling; unmanaged emotional stress; work-related conflicts; and workplace threats/violence.
The agreement was signed by the Governor of the Bank, Professor Edward Scicluna, and Director of Fondazzjoni Caritas Malta Anthony Gatt.
“The Bank is proud to support the well-being of its staff, with regards to everything from work-life balance to encouraging a healthy lifestyle. However, as a responsible employer, we also understand that life goes through difficult phases and that this is when it is most important to offer assistance”, Prof. Scicluna said.
Mr Gatt thanked the Governor and the Board of the Central Bank of Malta for the continued support being given to Caritas in its quest to help people in need in society, as well as the Bank’s commitment to the well-being of its employees through the Employee Assistance Programme.
The programme – which is provided on a confidential basis – can assist Bank employees who have personal problems that may have an adverse impact on their personal life, work attendance or performance; and it also help to identify and resolve problems through timely interventions.
Throughout the year, Caritas in liaison with the Training and Development Section within the Bank’s Human Resources Department, will deliver various awareness sessions to Bank employees on the services offered and the benefits of the programme.
