The Secretary of the Professionals, Finance and Services Section within the General Workers’ Union (GWU) has approached the Bankers Association to inform its members over proposing the possibility of them being vaccinated against Covid-19 earlier than others.

“These workers encounter people all the time. Their jobs put them at risk, both to themselves and to their families who may even be at risk. Therefore, the GWU has proposed that they too be considered frontliners and should be vaccinated against Covid-19 as a priority,” the GWU said.

The General Secretary of the Bankers Association agreed with GWU’s proposal and said that they need to present this proposal to the Board to formally seek approval from Health Authorities.

The GWU said that it understands very well that everyone wants to be among the first to be vaccinated against Covid-19, “but as the Workers Union it is our duty to see what is best for our members, as we have always done.”
