Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon succeeds Dr Joe Borg and takes over the Chairmanship of the Malta Maritime Forum as at today, 12th May 2021.

The Board of Directors of the Malta Maritime Forum today nominated Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon as the second Chairman in the young history of this dynamic Organisation.
Judge Emeritus Zammit McKeon succeeds Dr Joe Borg who, shortly after ending his term as Malta’s first ever European Commissioner had been instrumental in the establishment of the Forum and became its Founding Chairman in October 2015.

During the last Annual General Assembly of the Forum held in March this year, Dr Borg announced to fellow members that he would be retiring from the post of Chairman and Board member once a new Chairman was ready to take over.  Further to a brief but intensive process that ensued after the General Assembly, the Forum is now pleased to announce the nomination of Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon as its Chairman.

On passing on the baton to his successor, Dr Borg described his five-year experience as the Forum’s first Chairman as very fruitful and personally enriching, saying he would cherish and treasure it forever.  He thanked Judge Emeritus for accepting the invitation of his fellow Board members to take over the reins of the Forum. In reciprocating Dr Borg’s words, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon thanked his predecessor for his untiring efforts and selfless initiatives towards the maritime industry mainly by portraying an attractive and positive image of all the benefits it offers to the economy in terms of investment, employment and by way of environmental sustainability.
