MaltaPost plc wins Sustainability Award for its eco-innovative ‘One Delivery’ project

MaltaPost p.l.c. is proud to have been honoured with the ‘Sustainability Award’ at the Malta National Transport Awards ceremony.  This is the first time such awards were organised by Transport Malta.

As Malta’s leading postal services and logistics Company, our groundbreaking eco-innovative “One Delivery” project has revolutionised the last-mile delivery of letters and parcels. This initiative has reduced fuel consumption and our carbon footprint as we optimised our last mile delivery routes fostering a positive impact on our environment and the community we serve. The integration of four-wheeled electric cargo Paxter vehicles on the combined letter and parcel delivery routes in the Southeastern and Southern Harbour districts has led to the elimination of 17 delivery vans and 40 motorbikes from Malta’s road network, along with a 76.6 tonne annual decrease in CO₂ emissions.

The Paxter is an award-winning specialised vehicle that has defined a new norm for last mile delivery vehicles trusted in service with leading global brands. 

Upon receiving the award, Joseph Gafa’, Chief Executive Officer at MaltaPost p.l.c., stated ’We are proud to have received this prestigious award in recognition for the significant investment the company has made to go green despite the various challenges we have faced and continue to face to deliver the Universal Service Obligation.  The Group remains resolute and fully committed to further reduce its carbon emissions and to improve our air quality by further expanding our fleet of electric vehicles.’

MaltaPost p.l.c. presently operates over 120 electric vehicles and the successful implementation of the ‘One Delivery’ project within the localities of Valletta, Floriana, Ħamrun, Santa Venera, Marsa, Luqa, Qormi, Santa Luċija, Siġġiewi, Paola, Fgura, Tarxien, Żebbug, Żurrieq, Safi, Mqabba, Qrendi, Kirkop, Żejtun, Birżebbuġa, Marsaxlokk, Gudja, Għaxaq, Żabbar, Marsaskala, Xgħajra, Bormla, Birgu, Kalkara, Isla, Naxxar, Għargħur, Swieqi, San Ġiljan, Pembroke, San Ġwann and Iklin augurs well for the next phases of implementation, as the Company  eventually  rolls out the ‘One Delivery’  concept  in the Northern and Western areas of the Maltese Islands, including Gozo. ”
