Melita Business has exceeded 50 per cent share of the business fixed telephony market for the first time ever, according to the latest figures released by the Malta Communications Authority.

Much of this growth reflects a growing demand from small and micro businesses for the Cloud PBX and SIP services offered by Melita Business. As these services are cloud-based, minimal onsite equipment is required, meaning lower cost, and faster set-up.

The Cloud PBX service is ideal for smaller businesses as it provides them with the key PBX features without any of the complexity. It is also centrally hosted and managed by Melita’s engineering team ensuring high levels of availability and uptime. On the other hand, the new SIP services are enabling businesses and independent system integrators to onboard fixed telephony on a multitude of other PBX brands whether on-premises, or in the cloud. This has also enabled companies to easily integrate their systems with online video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams as well as providing seamless links to employees’ mobile phones.

Malcolm Briffa, Chief Officer Business and IoT at Melita, said: “Reaching this significant milestone is the fruit of our investment in new technology, skilled people and a commitment to quality service. Our new services and support for system integrators has fueled demand from new clients and is driving growth in this sector.”
